Citizens have the right to expect their police officers to rise above verbal harassment. Being a police officer is doubtless a hard job, so too is being a teacher, city bus driver, nurse, or caretaker for the developmentally disabled. There are, nonetheless, certain lines that cops, nor anyone else, can't cross. That said, cops cross these lines with some regularity, almost always secure in the knowledge that their fellow officers won't take action against them. Did you notice the police officers restraining their fellow police officer? Neither did I.
